Liberals preparing to waste billions of taxpayer's money to fund Adani raillink.

Both old parties are keen to subsidise Adani's Galilee Basin disaster

LNP Treasurer Joe Hockey admitted today on Brisbane radio that his government is working on options to subsidise a railway line from the Galilee Basin to the Great Barrier Reef to enable the overseas shipping of tens of millions of tons of coal. Senator for Queensland Larissa Waters has responded with the following comments.

“The Abbott Government has failed to rule out pouring taxpayer money into Adani’s unviable project, which no bank will touch, through the $5 billion Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility.

Queensland leads the way... with unemployment

Worse unemployment since the Great Depression

Queensland’s unemployment rate, at 6.9%, is now the highest in the nation, equalled only by Tasmania’s.

Tasmania’s economy is hampered by a number of structural barriers, including population size, remoteness, and transport expense. Queensland has none of these problems.

Queensland’s exceptionally high unemployment is entirely that of the poor policy decisions and financial mismanagement of the LNP . But this means we can fix it. We can free employers to work with Queensland’s many natural advantages to deliver quality jobs in productive industries.
